Superbly formed pure scarlet with such heavy substance that it seems to take forever to become full blown. Just barely large enough to qualify as an exhibition variety, but makes up for it in productivity since its original destiny was a cut flower. Dark green, leathery foliage is so resistant to disease you almost know before you sniff that it isn't going to be very fragrant. The plants are upright, tend to build upon themselves during the summer and are thankfully quite hardy. Flower size: 4-6". Fragrance: Slight. Hybridizer: Kordes, 1985.

Another performer which survived Chicagoland's Polar Vortex unprotected. The flowers last and last. Resprouts from below ground and matures new growth quickly. The plants are only moderately sized so look best in groups, you won't find more than a hint of fragrance but it is disease resistant and VERY heat tolerant as well, cycling new bloom with or without deadheading. It seems to be a favorite of Rose Chafers but I don't spray and the plants compete with the insect pressure. Organic sprays like Neem, etc. should probably take care of these if you wish to keep them spotless. Overall one of the better red Hybrid Teas for our area.
