(Var: TANellis) Large, full blooms of deep orange-red have a fragrance that will knock your socks off. The plant is a shorty and requires an extra shot of fertilizer to get stems long enough to show. The reddish tinted foliage is extremely resistant and persists long enough to give the plant an extra shot of starch that insures hardiness even in cold winter areas. Oddly enough the introducer withheld this variety from the market for five years for fear it couldn't compete with Tropicana. Looks like it's going to outlive it. Hybridizer: Tantau, 1963
