(Var: KORlingo) This superbly formed, pure scarlet rose has such heavy substance that it seems to take forever to fully open. Just barely large enough to qualify as an exhibition variety, it makes up for it in productivity. Dark green foliage is so resistant to disease you almost know before you sniff that it isn't going to be very fragrant. The upright plants are thankfully quite hardy.

Beautiful
May 26, 2025  |  By Rick
I just planted Kardinal this spring in a new rose garden. It was the first of 15 plants to bloom. The color is a gorgeous shade of red. Tall pointed buds open slowly to reveal velvety petals with great substance. It stands up to rain extremely well. No spots. It is planted next to Sunsprite which is an excellent color companion, a clear non-fading yellow.
