This hardy, vigorous shrub, nicely clothed in dark green, disease-resistant foliage, can take the weather wherever you live and produce an outstanding floral display. Blooms are an unusual, difficult-to-describe color: bronzy centers with outer orchid pink petals that shade to lavender at the edges. Each stem holds its own bouquet of big, ruffled flowers. Made in America
Jan 16, 2026  |  By Lisa Batts
Griffith Buck developed this rose at Iowa State University where he hybridized about one hundred roses that were meant to survive the cold winters and be disease resistant. They didn't continue his rose breeding program after his retirement and years later when they realized his amazing work began looking for possible survivors of roses that he often sent out as cuttings to friends that are maybe lost forever. It is a beautiful rose that is tough and American made.
