The dark velvety red, richly fragrant flowers of Don Juan have seduced gardeners and rosarians alike for more than half a century, although its Italian hybridizer still remains a bit of a mystery. It's quite disease resistant with dark green, glossy foliage and long sturdy canes. Keep an eye open for mildew in hot, humid situations, but otherwise you'll find it to be quite trouble-free and enjoyable. Blooms on old and new wood. Hybridizer: Malandrone, 1958
